Canada boasts the most vast paddling opportunities on the planet. Touching three oceans, home to about 880,000 lakes, and including more than 240,000 km of combined shoreline, the scale and wealth of Canadian wild water can scarcely be comprehended, let alone competed against.
The rules are simple: No Motors. No Supports, and No Wind. Human Power Only. Peddle, Paddle, Row. The organizers don't care - it's up to race participants to choose the best way to tackle this grueling 70 mi journey in under 48 hours. "I'll never do it again....!"
The word solstice is derived from the Latin word solstitium which translates to "sun stands still." This is due to the apparent movement of the sun to the north or south stops before changing direction.
With strong solar storm conditions decades in the making, the convergence of the great Northern Lights and the timing of our surf camp made this a once in a lifetime experience for paddlers.
Frank Wolf has returned from his latest paddling expedition, attempting the trek from Panama City Panama, to Turbo, Colombia along with fellow adventurer Mark Sky. Frank and Mark pushed these kayaks in everything from heavy seas to sun drenched coastlines, and they returned to tell the tale in conventional airline luggage!
Lori Does The Thing - Telegraph Cove
Katrina and I were off on a last minute kayaking and camping trip near Telegraph Cove over the long weekend. Just what the Easter Bunny would have wanted! We met up with Simon from TRAK in Nanaimo, jenga’d everything into my car, and headed up towards Telegraph Cove blasting some throwback emo tunes.
Frank Wolf - Round the Darien Gap

In February we teamed up with Ocean River Sports in Victoria to bring legendary Canadian writer, film maker and explorer Frank Wolf in to give a presentation of Two Coasts, One Season: Kayak Adventures on the outer edges of British Columbia and Labrador.
