Have you ever wanted to explore an island chain or waterway but aren't ready to tackle it solo quite yet - or prefer to have capable companions with you for that first trip? Maybe you want to improve your self rescue or build on the fundamentals? Looking to become an expert roller?

We've heard from many of our TRAK paddlers that they're excited by the possibilities, but want to make sure to bite off only what they can chew. Something a bit more involved than a 90-minute test paddle, but not quite a weeklong expedition...

Sirintorn was in exactly the same boat! She reached out to us to help her develop some of her paddling skills and for the chance to experience the best that the TRAK 2.0 has to offer on the water with some expert oversight.

We were in luck! TRAK Pilot Rodolfo Vivanco was in residence with us this past summer at TRAK HQ, so we were able to build a unique experience just for Sirintorn. After a short seaplane with our friends Harbour Air from Vancouver Harbour, the pair connected and set off together into the Nanaimo Harbour.

Spending three days and two nights paddling the Gulf Islands of BC together, they worked on her paddle stroke, boat handling and some navigation. Rodolfo was able to expertly guide her to get the most out of her TRAK Kayak experience. It's a unique feeling to be able to traverse the landscapes just out of reach together. Rodolfo summed it up well: "You can go your entire life just 'seeing' things, but the TRAK allows you to go to them, to experience them!"

"It allows you to connect deeply with the places you're paddling in, but more importantly the connection is especially profound to the people you're paddling with. After just a few days together it felt as though Sirintorn and I had been friends for twenty years! It was reminiscent of being young and seeing your friend after many years, you just pick right back up where you left off!"

Kayaking brings out a familiarity and comfort that is so natural in childhood, but can become foreign to adults. The focus in your stroke, the connection with your paddle and the water... it's hard to beat that experience with a friend!

The pair were obviously spreading contagious enthusiasm while out on the water - before long a playful pod of Orca raced over to meet them. Sirintorn had been hoping to spot some whales on their trip, but wasn't quite prepared for just how rich an experience that interaction would be!

If you're looking to maximize your kayaking experience and go hands on with a TRAK Pilot, we've got the Test Paddle Pro Experience program. Tell us what sort of trip, skills or unique adventure you're looking for and we'll do the rest!
