What we're going to do

This TRAK camp will create a unique blend of paddling, sightseeing, and cultural experiences in the historic Lombard region of Italy. This is a kayak vacation that the whole family can enjoy, with the emphasis being on laid-back exploration rather than a rigid skills curriculum.

Paddlers can expect to improve their skills and familiarity with their TRAK kayaks over the week within several optional skills clinics, with the rest of the paddling devoted to experiencing the various Roman, medieval, and early-modern sites available across the vast lake.

Tour Itinerary

Expedition Plan:

  • DAY 1: Exploring historic Peschiera del Garda: paddle through the canals of this commune, whose fortifications still bear their scars of cannonballs from the Napoleonic wars.
  • DAY 2: Paddle into Scaligero Castle: paddle to the tip of the Sirmione peninsula and directly into a stunning example of medieval fortifications.
  • DAY 3: Isola del Garda: crossing from the harbour of Moniga to a fairytale island in the Central-West part of the lake.
  • Day 4: The cliffs of Limone: this longer paddle will take us to the postcard-worthy village of Limone towards the North of the lake. We will return via shuttle.

Aspects of the trip are completely electable and we can break into smaller groups with alternative plans for those who are averse to longer paddling sessions.

Reviews

Chelsea Josue

“It was very exciting to be around such a culture of people and find myself on the open waters of the wild pacific coast with such an inviting and welcoming group, in these amazing high-performance kayaks. Never in my wildest dreams would those few basic skills that we learned on the first day, would progress to where we went today.”

Natalie Kelly

“That was really fun. He just broke it down… It’s funny when you have someone take the time to go through things that might be natural. He broke down the surf process into little bitty pieces that made me way more comfortable. I would have never just dove in and done that on my own.”
