Ramon wurde in Mulege Baja California Sur, Mexiko, geboren. Als Kind verbrachte er mehr Zeit im Wasser als an Land. Er war ständig beim Angeln und Tauchen. Nach einer kurzen traditionellen Ausbildung folgte Ramon seiner Leidenschaft. Er arbeitete viele Jahre als Taucher und Berufsfischer, eine Fähigkeit, die ihm später in seinem heutigen Beruf zugute kam.
Ramon verfügt über rund 20 Jahre Erfahrung im Seekajakfahren und hat in vier verschiedenen amerikanischen Ländern Führungserfahrungen vermittelt: USA, KANADA, CHILE und MEXIKO. Darüber hinaus hat er über 300 Wochen Feldarbeit als Führungslehrer absolviert und viele Jahre als Guide für Sea Trek Baja gearbeitet.
