WOW — it's World Oceans Week!

Help us illuminate the sheer wonders of the ocean and how it is our lifesource, supporting humanity, vitality and every organism on Earth.

In 2021, World Oceans Week runs June 3-10 and here at TRAK we feel that since we are stewards of the waters, we would like to share the wonders of the ocean with you. This is our Why...

From the highest mountain tops, to the deepest abyssal plains, the ocean regulates all other ecosystems.

Did you know that up to 80% of the oxygen we breathe comes from photosynthetic plankton? Our oceans also contain almost 95% of all life on this planet. Perhaps you already knew that the Earth surface is 70% water, and so are our bodies? Make what you will of that coincidence.

Our oceans are powerful, but even the most powerful forces on our planet can be threatened by our behaviors.

There are seven oceans, and seven billion of us on the planet - you might say that the odds are stacked against them. We're reaching a critical junction in our relationship to water - will we forsake its life-giving energy in pursuit of commerce, convenience, and complacency? Or, will you stand with TRAK and an alliance of like-minded water people and work to defend our most precious ecosystem?

We know that connecting people to water creates a deeper appreciation for this resource, and we are making our kayaks as accessible as possible to help you build that connection, and foster a relationship of stewardship and consideration. Our community is ready to welcome you.

The traditions of seapersonship have been handed down through myriad cultures since the dawn of the first watercraft. Polynesian settlers, Phoenician traders, and Portuguese explorers are just a few examples of humanity's many ocean-faring traditions.

The tradition that we focus on at TRAK is the art of sea kayaking. Developed by the Inuit people as an instrument of survival, the sea kayak has not changed in effective design for thousands of years. Materials of construction have progressed, and now this survival practice is a recreational event for people of all backgrounds, and on every continent, but the skills required to engage with competence and confidence are still be passed down from paddler to paddler.

Join us and participate in TRAK events and gatherings throughout the month of June:
