Mark Fingerhut began his paddling journey growing up 20 minutes from the confluence of the two longest rivers in North America in St. Louis, MO. He enjoyed the pristine waters of Ozark streams, looking out across the endlessly flowing waters of the Missouri and the Mississippi, even filling sandbags to hold back the great flood of 1993.

In 2010, Mark joined a friend to undertake his first MR340, a 340 mile paddle race from Kansas City to St. Louis, MO. From there he was hooked on all things rivers. Countless miles on the rivers big and small later, including six more MR340 finishes and many midwest-based paddle races, Mark undertook an epic journey in a custom wooden kayak down the entirety of the Missouri River, starting on the Madison River on the edge of Yellowstone Park and finishing at the Arch 2,456 miles and 96 days later. Mark has since gained his ACA level 2 instructor certification for Essentials of Kayak Touring and guides paddlers on Missouri River trips out of New Haven, MO.

Mark’s passion is spending time on any bodies of water, river cleanups and introducing new paddlers to the wonders of big river paddling.
