I was born and raised in the southeast of the Netherlands, and I’m the proud dad of two kids (and the lucky bonus dad of another two).

While on a holiday in the western part of Canada, my wife and I booked a two-day kayaking trip on Vancouver Island. We chose a town called Telegraph Cove. Even though the first day of paddling was wet and chilly, it was an incredible experience that sparked my passion for kayaking. Soon after, we bought a cheap inflatable kayak, but after a few paddles, I realized it wasn’t good enough. I then moved on to more advanced inflatable kayaks, and then to plastic (PE) kayaks. But I still wanted more, so I ended up getting a TRAK kayak. Since we love to travel, this kayak was perfect for me. I can bring it along with us almost anywhere we go.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, and even after it ended, I discovered that kayaking is not just a great sport, but it’s also an amazing form of therapy. It’s a way to find peace and disconnect from the world around me while enjoying the beauty of nature right in front of me.

Since I love kayaking and I also enjoy sharing my passion for the sport with others, I decided to become a TRAK Pilot. I hope to bring even more people on the water for sports and therapy.
