If you've ever paddled around the bend, only to find yourself overwhelmed by the wind and waves on the other side, then you know how we feel around this time of year...

For those of us who work and paddle with TRAK, the start of 'the holiday buying season' offers a stark reminder of everything we stand against: mindless consumption, meaningless waste, planned obsolescence, fighting our own neighbours for the ‘last best deal.’

These are the symptoms of a system that feeds on fear, scarcity, and insecurity - and like many of you, we want nothing to do with it.

Alas, 'Black Friday' and 'Cyber Monday' are around the corner, and while we’d rather not venture through those waters, we have to keep paddling.

So once again, for the seventh year in a row, we’re inviting TRAK paddlers, followers, and fans to join us in revolt as we turn Black into Blue!

What does Blue Friday look like @ TRAK?

Instead of following the masses on Nov 28th, we choose to stick it to the man and play outside. We close our office, shut off our phones, and get on the water.

In doing so, we say "no" to stress, fear, and chaos, and we say "yes to peace and serenity as we embrace all the things that make life worth living:

Our health and vitality.
Our freedom to explore.
Our strength to endure.
Our family, friends, and communities.
Our planet.

And notice: none these things can be purchased on Black Friday.

Unlike some of our competitors, TRAK does not offer deep discounts for Black Friday. Here's why:

Low quality, mass produced kayak brands don't rely on partnerships with professional paddlers and dealers like we do. They can also afford to offer 20-40% off because their products are very cheap to produce at scale.

But do you really want a cheaply made kayak?

While seasonal discounting is known to drive consumption, this practice is also known to undercut our global partners, threatens the wages of hard working people, and gives the impression that our products are unfairly priced during the rest of the year.

Simply put, deep discounting is not sustainable in our business.

We care our people. We've spent 20+ years nurturing a global network of retailers and ambassadors, and the last thing we want to do is cheat or undercut them all with online-only discounts that we know only contribute to layoffs and closures of small paddlesports businesses. This practice has to stop.

We stand behind our pricing because it reflects decades of ongoing Research & Development, the highest quality materials the modern market can provide, and an elite level of craftsmanship that goes into each an every TRAK kayak (yeah, our skins are still made by hand. Isn't that awesome! ).

Plus, we recently increased our warranty from 5 to 7 years - not because we wanted to impress you, but because we could; because we believe a folding performance kayak can and should last this long. We challenge you to find a single kayak manufacturer with a warranty as long as TRAK's. Seriously - let us know if you find one...

We're not like the others. We support our paddlers with real, personalized service - not AI chat bots. We have a real phone, with real paddlers who answer it. Ask us a question on WhatsApp anytime: 250-797-8725 ('TRAK').

Paddling the 'Real' Jersey Shore - Report by TRAK Pilot Anthony Sousa

Paddling the 'Real' Jersey Shore - Report by TRAK Pilot Anthony Sousa

One paddling highlight for me was putting the TRAK 2.0 portable skin-on-frame kayak to the test, paddling it over and around rocks. Yes, I flew to Europe with a kayak in my luggage!  The TRAK performed very well.  With its light weight, hard chines and added rocker, I found it nimble and maneuverable for moving among the rocks or in big swells.  I felt comfortable pushing the TRAK to its limits.
