When Frank Wolf get's comments from fans and admirers about how amazing and enviable it is to make a living from epic adventures, he often says "this a lifestyle, not a living."

Frank completed his solo paddle of the might Mackenzie River - a journey of 1,620km - back in summer 2025. But just like any adventure worth reflecting on, it took Frank several months to process the experience, compile his notes, and put pen to paper on a feature article for Explore Mag titled "Big River Solitude" (featured at the bottom of this page).

Franks story is deeply insightful, providing a rare glimpse into the realities of "the true North" and the people who call it home. This is a region of the world that few humans get to experience for themselves - never mind paddle across in a folding kayak; a land where the sun never sets, where humans are still prey, and where any evidence of 'civilization' appears in stark contrast to the raw, untamed wilderness beyond.

Once again, our team was honoured that Frank chose to complete this epic mission using a TRAK kayak - the very boat he used to paddle the Darien Gap back in 2024. Being able to fly in and out of remote Indigenous communities along the river with all of his gear and supplies from 30+ days was critical for Frank - a feat only possible with a TRAK folding performance kayak.

We hope you enjoy reading Frank's full report for Explore Magazine, below:
