What we're going to do

The objective route will be to circumnavigate Salt Spring Island, The circumnavigation is approximately 75km in total. Participants must be prepared to paddle on average 3-4 hours per day. Your TRAK Pilot will determine the best route based on their assessment of the weather forecast and everyone’s experience level and goals. There are many amazing campsites along the shores of Salt Spring Island. Typically we will stay at each site for only one night, possible site options include: Wallace Isl. Marine Prov. Park, James Bay Campground, and Beaver Point Campground.

The sea kayaking skills that we focus on during this trip are dependent on the previous experience that participants possess, while clarifying and delivering a program to help paddlers realize their aspirations.

“It was very exciting to be around such a culture of people and find myself on the open waters of the wild pacific coast with such an inviting and welcoming group, in these amazing high-performance kayaks. Never in my wildest dreams would those few basic skills that we learned on the first day, would progress to where we went today.”

“That was really fun. He just broke it down… It’s funny when you have someone take the time to go through things that might be natural. He broke down the surf process into little bitty pieces that made me way more comfortable. I would have never just dove in and done that on my own.”

"The best decision I made, once I got my TRAK kayak, was to join two trips. I was able to go from a beginner kayaker to an intermediate one in no time, thanks to the assistance of professional TRAK Pilots and the fun skill-building in pristine settings, like the Gulf Islands. I highly recommend joining TRAK in the Gulf Islands - not only did my kayak skills progress but I found a new family with TRAK!"
